Anxiety/Depression

Negative thoughts and feelings are constant companions.

“It feels like my nerves are shot all the time. I’m always worried that something bad will happen.”

“My mind spins constantly, and I can’t settle down.”

“I’m worried people will judge what I say or do, so I avoid them or ruminate on what happened when I was with them.”

“I avoid doing things that cause me to panic.”

“I can’t sleep, but then, I don’t want to get out of bed in the morning. I feel ‘off’ most of the time.”

Or,

“I can’t stop eating, drinking, binge-watching, or checking social media.”

Normal versus worrisome feelings.

Feeling anxious is natural and can help you through stressful situations, such as giving a presentation, interviewing for a job, taking an exam, or any other situation that creates temporary stress in your life.

However, when we persistently focus on fear and negativity, we can develop a sense of being powerless and unsafe. This type of persistent anxiety is different. If left unchecked, it can lead to depression.

Both anxiety and depression affect our nervous system. As a result, we get stuck in loops, engaging in thought patterns and behaviors that keep us going down the same neural pathways because we falsely believe they keep us safe.

The only way to become unstuck is to disengage from the current pattern.

The chains of anxiety and depression can be unbound.

The awesome thing is that neuroplasticity shows us that we can change our brain!

We are not bound to repeat these patterns forever! We also can learn to calm down our nervous system, so our body feels safe.

When we feel safe, we feel less anxious and depressed, our moods stabilize, and we stop needing our addictive behaviors to regulate our nervous system. As a result, we then make choices not based on fear or avoidance, we see the world and other people more positively, and we start to thrive instead of merely survive.

Therapy helps us change those patterns and make positive choices.

Identifying the underlying cause provides a new perspective.

While working together, we will look at what’s behind your belief systems and thought patterns. Then, we will look at ways to calm your nervous system.

When our system feels safe, which is what we will explore in therapy, our nervous system calms down and allows for regulation.

As a result, you will begin to see things more clearly, make better choices, remain consistent, feel less anxious and depressed, etc.

Replace those negative thoughts with more positive ones!

Let’s work together to remove those nagging thoughts that are ruling your life. It’s time to for a change in perspective, one that helps you make the right decisions, so you can enjoy your life and find peace of mind.
